I just realized it has been 3 months since my last post. I figured it was time for a brief update on my progress. You may recall I was shooting for 2500 calories / day with 55% Carbs, 30% Protein and 15% Fat. I had also set a goal weight of 219 lbs, which now seems a little bit aggressive but a man can dream. My 20 year reunion is approaching and I weighed 225 when I graduated high school.
I made a slight adjustment to this plan about a month ago after a productive swim session and lunch nutrition lesson with my brother (@teamstevenstri) to 2200 calories / day with 40% Carbs, 30% Protein and 30% Fat. Nonetheless here are the results to date in this little experiment.
April 13, 2011 - 250 lbs. with 30% Body Fat
July 13, 2011 - 239 lbs with 21% Body Fat
So, just like your supposed to I have lost about a pound a week on the new plan. I haven't killed myself on food I have my good days and bad days, but the 2200 calorie goal gives me a little give and almost guarantees a calorie negative week at my current workout rate. I just have about three weeks on this current outseason plan before making the final push to the end of the season where I will finish with an Olympic Triathlon in September and October.
Next month I plan on publishing a longer blog on my thoughts over the past two years of training. On August 31, 2011 I'll celebrate my two year anniversary of being off the couch! Also, as the triathlon year comes to a close I'll be discussing my 2012 plans.
Later.
