Research into Practice: What Does Neuroscience Teach US

Interesting to see programs and journals popping up on this subject all within the past couple of years.

Dyslexia:

Genetic does not equal unalterable...  I think this is a great point

A 5th grader that is a good reader typically reads as many words in 2 days as a poor reader does in 1 year.
The most common cause of Dyslexia is an auditory processing deficit, but it first was thought to have more to do with vision.  The inability to hear fast phonemes.

Retraining the Brain:  Fast ForWord

Okay, so based on Sharon Begley's book Train Your Mind, Change Your Brain the brain is more "plastic" than we were led to believe by previous science.  There are also lots of compelling studies that suggest this is accurate (too many to list hear, read the book).  So what does this mean for education and how or will we decide to change?
