Closing Thought on Neuroplasticity

We have spent most of the day looking at the proof that the brain can change as we grow older and that we do not possess a finite amount of brain power based on genetics.  I was thinking of some of my own experiences.  I remember how much I struggles to learn to play guitar as an adult.  It was hard, but not impossible.  Of course, it may have been easier if I would have started younger.  I think we would all agree to that.  The same goes for language acquisition and many other things.

So when you think about the 19 Dysfunctions that we discussed and succinctly working on them like the Arrowsmith School does I related this to exercise.  As we get older it is more difficult to "shape" ourselves physically.  Also, as we grow older it can be more difficult to learn new tasks.  The brain is still plastic it just may take more effort to exercise it and you may need to be more focused (i.e. meditative) about it.

I just wanted to get that random thought recorded, before I lost it.  Now I better hit the treadmill.
